Hey there! Just popping in to wish all my Canadian readers a very happy Canada Day. Hope you have a chance to relax, eat yummy food and maybe catch some fireworks. I plan on doing all 3! Although I was born in England, my family came to Canada when I was 7 – so many, many decades ago!
Although Ontario is my home, I have lived on the West Coast in Vancouver with a walk to Kitsilano beach. Oh, how I miss that!
And I am so excited to be finally visiting the East Coast this summer – Nova Scotia, Cape Breton and PEI. If you have any tips to share or must see places, please let me know in the comments.
What a beautiful country we live in!
And just a couple more items of note. Style at Home featured some Canadian designers talking about their favourite designs here. I have mentioned Mod Pieces on the blog a few times as I have used them to revamp lighting. They are having a Canada Day sale which ends today and they now have pillows in their shop. Go have a look.
Well, I am off to bake cupcakes (red velvet ones of course!) and celebrate the day!
And just a reminder that Google Reader will not be available after today. So if you read my blog via this method (I know many of you did), please either sign up via email or use another reader. You can click on the first icon at the top of the sidebar on the right (a dot with 2 curved lines) to subscribe via email.
I have heard that Bloglovin’ is a good one – you can follow me here or use the “Import from Google Reader” button. Feedly also has a one click Google Reader import. You can read about some other alternative ways to read blogs here. Whatever method you use to read blogs, I hope you will continue to follow along on my design/decor adventures. I will have lots to share in the coming months!
Happy Canada Day to you too!
ReplyDeleteYou are going to fall in love with the East Coast - it is so gorgeous and so relaxed. I did a couple of posts on my trips down there which you might find interesting to get ideas of places to go. They are: http://gracie-senseandsimplicity.blogspot.ca/2012/09/nova-scotia-day-1.html and http://gracie-senseandsimplicity.blogspot.ca/2012/09/nova-scotia-day-2.html. I also did this post showing an adorable cottage near Parrsboro, Nova Scotia: http://gracie-senseandsimplicity.blogspot.ca/2010/06/friday-photo-we-welcome-you-to.html. Parrsboro is one of our favourite areas as there is lots to do and see - dinosaur museums, great tides, lighthouses, rock beaches to climb around on and hunt for treasures etc. Let me know if you have any questions and enjoy your trip.
Thanks so much for directing me to your posts Sylvia! We hadn't thought about going to the Bay of Fundy but you have me rethinking this. Peggy's Cove and Lunenberg are on our list of places to see. Thanks again!
DeleteHappy belated Canada Day!
ReplyDeleteDriving along the Fundy Coast in NB and NS is always worth getting off the Highway for, very beautiful! If you have the time, I suggest visiting Hopewell Rocks (http://www.thehopewellrocks.ca), where we have the highest tide in the world and you can walk on the ocean ground. I'm not a big city person, but we have had a great time whenever we visited our daughter in Halifax in the past year.
Thanks so much for you comment Sue! I don't think we will have time to visit NB on this trip but hopefully another time as Hopewell Rocks and the rest of the province looks amazing.
DeleteHow exciting to visit the East coast! I would LOVE to visit there one day! I never read any blogs on Google reader, so am not sure what I am missing. I do love the Bloglovin email feed though!
ReplyDeleteYay! I'm glad you're Eastbound for a summer trip. I'm from Halifax and there is lots to do here. The waterfront is great for open-air dining.
