I always love when magazines list their top 20, 50 or 100 designers to watch. Discovering designers and reviewing their work is always educational and inspirational. Earlier this year, Architectural Digest showcased 100 top designers and architects (AD100) from around the globe.
One such gifted designer on the list is Stephen Knollenberg. His interiors are classic and timeless, whether contemporary or traditional or a mix of both. I’m not sure where I first saw the room with the green sofa (below), but I remember thinking that the use of colour, scale and balance was brilliant. Turns out the rest of his portfolio is equally stunning.
This is the den of Knollenberg’s 1940’s cottage in Michigan which he renovated. Love the window!
The great room of his home with whitewashed walls.
In future posts, I will be sharing the work of other talented designers from the AD100 whose work resonates with me.
Ooo gorgeous! I agree with you, his designs are timeless. You should add this to my Timeless Tuesday party ~ it is perfect!

love the classic feel without being stuffy. The glass top on the trunk is brilliant. Oh, and I wouldn't mind moving into the first image.
ReplyDeleteVanessa, thank you for introducing us to this designer! Every image you included was gorgeous, and as you noted, the rooms were balanced and proportioned so perfectly. As this is the first time I've been on your blog, I look forward to reading some of your other posts!

Thank you for another great post! I think the adjectives that apply to Stephen Knollenberg are classic, timeless & balanced. All design should strive to achieve balance. It depends on your budget and objectives as to whether you should strive to achieve design that is classic & timeless.

Beautiful pics! Each room has such a grand and classic feeling. I do think the bathroom is my favorite, the tub is gorgeous.
ReplyDeleteHis work is really stunning. The one thing I notice is that all of the rooms looks livable and comfortable. There is nothing pretentious just great furniture and great design. I'm heading over to his website to look more. Thanks for the post.
