Upholstered Headboards

Happy Monday! It’s mornings like this when it’s cold out that you just want to stay in bed with a good book.

Unfortunately, my bedroom is in need of some TLC and will be redecorated next year. I still have the same wood bed that I have had for 20 years!  Without a question, my next bed will have an upholstered headboard. This post I wrote over two years ago is one of the most popular on the blog – everyone else is enamoured with headboards as am I.  I have seen so many gorgeous headboards lately, so it’s time for another round up.  (Hopefully some of these are new to you!)

So many styles to choose from! Which do you prefer? I like those with a straight top (like in the first image) so that you can hang art over it. When you hang something over a curved headboard, it never looks right. For my bedroom, I’m thinking of doing a solid teal velvet, or a yellow, stylized floral velvet or….(see, so many choices I just can’t make up my mind!)

Have a wonderful week!

  1. Interesting point about hanging artwork over the headboard. I am going through a serious teal stage. It is so difficult to decided when it is something for you and not a client.

  4. I'm with you, I've had a wood bed for my entire married life and I WANT an upholstered one now. I made one for my guest room awhile back and it turned out great. But I think I would love a fancy tufted or nailhead trim on mine, so would likely get it professionally done. I'll have to wait until there are funds as I would want to redo the entire room. : /

  5. I love the 6 (stripe), 7 (camel back) and 9. They are clean-lined and elegant, assuming that's the look you are going for your master bedroom. I switched to upholstered headboard last year in my master and couldn't be happier. There's no going back to wood headboard from there. http://www.amdolcevita.com/p/master-bedroom.html

  7. I am all about clean lines and nailheads (love the grey and white striped one above) and since I feel like you and I have similar tastes, I say go for velvet teal with a polished nickel nailhead!

  8. I like the similar stripe fabric with antique brass nailhead. In fact, that maybe what I'm going for my next project. Thanks for the headboard inspiration!
