Layla, from The Lettered Cottage is having a mantel linky party – part of their Home May’d Spring/Summer Link Parties and I didn’t want to miss out. If you are new to blogging, linking up to these virtual “parties” is a great way to bring new readers to your blog.
My mantel needed some “summerizing,” so I added a plate with shells, a print of a ferris wheel (what says summer more than that?) and aqua bowls that I blogged about here. These are all items that I already had in other rooms. I will probably change out the dried hydrangea for some faux branches like these.
The candle holders are from Pottery Barn, the white pitcher is form Home Sense, the shells are from the Christie’s antique show and I did the painting.
The mirror was originally stained brown and I painted it aqua and then black. I was thinking of painting it once again (white this time) but the fireplace is surrounded by white shutters so the black is a nice contrast.
What do you think? Anything I should change/add?

ReplyDeleteWhat a fresh and beautiful mantel! Don't change a thing. :-)
ReplyDeletePretty :-) I love the wood candle holders and the ferris wheel photo. And the round black mirror is perfect above the square white fireplace :-)
ReplyDeletePretty! And lucky Janis!
ReplyDeleteGorgeous mantle. And I think every room needs some black!
ReplyDeleteOh wow, that is a GORGEOUS mantel! I love the pink accents!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful candlesticks, they look like burl wood. Where did you find your mirror? It's so rich looking, but casual too.
ReplyDeleteThanks guys! Susan - I bought the mirror at a store in Canada called Bowring's. Don't think you have that store in the US but I'm sure you can find something similar. You have such great retailers in the US like Ballard.
ReplyDeleteThis is so pretty. Classic and fresh!
ReplyDeleteI'm a fellow Canadian and I love it when I find great Canadian blogs! I'm a new follower!
