Remember this Before I shared with you? I realized I hadn’t posted the After photos.
This Before photo was actually taken after we had moved the sofa to this wall and rolled up the busy Persian rug. The sofa previously sat in front of the window and really threw the room off balance.
Here is an After photo I took at Christmas (hence the reindeer. ) You can read all of the design choices and sources in the earlier post. The first thing I suggested was to place an area rug throughout the entire room which has the living room to one side and the dining to the other. This decision alone drastically changed the feel of the space. Having one area rug in the living space would have made the room feel smaller.
The client wanted to keep her sofa but everything else was sourced for the room. She realizes that the cream tone on tone damask is a little dated and would definitely love to reupholster it down the road. Quality pieces are always worth re-investing in.
She loved that we were able to use her oil paintings that were sitting neglected in the basement – nothing like original art to bring life to a room. The arm chairs are a much better scale for the room and the coffee table is one of my favourites – love the reflective surfaces. The room now has symmetry, balance and colour.
What do you think?

ReplyDeleteand comfy gorgeous too. ♥
Just beautiful and those are my favourite lamps too. The oval coffee table is perfect in shape and size. The art fits in beautifully and works great with the blue pillows. I love the style of the two chairs and wonder if you can share where they're from.
ReplyDeletebeautiful! I love the artwork.
ReplyDeleteWhat a fantastic job....so fresh and inviting!
ReplyDeleteLooks great - love the symmetry and colour choices, Vanessa.

There are so many great things about the sofa i can see why the client wanted to keep it. You've done a great job incorporating it into the design! I love it!
ReplyDeleteLovely, homey and inviting space Vanessa; wel done! I'm loving all the blue I'm seeing in the decor-world these days! I predict that a version of blue will be Pantone's colour next year!! Makes me happy that I'm using it in a room I'm designing right now... that means that you and I are with (or ahead?!) of the style curve!! ;-)

Looks awesome Vanessa! Love how you used some things she had with new ones! Much more put together and unified!
ReplyDeleteSimply amazing how an area rug makes such a difference. Really 'grounds' the space and makes it feel complete.
ReplyDeleteThanks for dropping by today!
I think the living room looks great! Love the new arm chairs, and it's great that you were able to incorporate your client's personal artwork into the room :-)
ReplyDeleteThanks for your sweet comments everyone!
ReplyDeleteAnon: Those beautiful chairs are from Elte. We were going to go with two other chairs but when we went to Elte, these were on sale and my client loved their small scale. I will update the post.
