Have you seen the new Martha Stewart Living paint colours available at Home Depot? 280 beautiful colours including some of Martha’s favourites. The complete colour palette (below) arranges all the colours as if they were on a colour wheel – so easy to find that perfect shade.
You can get a tester of any of the colours for $4.99.
I bought this colour and painted the mirror in my family room. The colour is similar to the colour in the fabric on one of my chairs.

The great thing is it only cost $5 (actually $2.50 because I used half the pot!) If I tire of the colour and want to paint it a creamy white (which was my first preference), I can. I may also do another coat of the Arrowroot to darken it. I realized this would have been a great “How to lighten up for Spring” post rather than posting it in the Fall when everything is earth tones!
What do you think? Have you done any inexpensive DIYS around your house to freshen it up or for a change?
I’m sharing this at Metamorphosis Monday at Between Naps on the Porch and Funky Junk Interiors. Head on over to see some other DIY makeovers.
Love this update! Such a pretty colour too.
ReplyDeleteWhat a difference that blue made!! I love those little tester pots. I have got a couple from Benjamin Moore to do some "around the house" projects
ReplyDeleteAwesome!!!! That blue is such a pretty color! That little change lightened up the whole feel of your living room. Great job! :) Happy MM!

Pretty color - it just "softened up" the whole mirror!
ReplyDeleteGreat to know she has the little samples...I've always loved her colors. Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeletewhat a great colour! For $5, you could do different colour every season if you felt like it!
ReplyDeleteYour room is beautiful, very comfy and calm and I like it both ways.
ReplyDeleteNice...

Love using testers- do they still sell them at Farrow and Ball? I haven't been in for a while.
ReplyDeleteVanessa did you enjoy the lottery home? I thought it was better than last years, but once again I didn't like the flooring. The black hardwood was so matte and every nick showed up as white raw wood. The carpet in the basement was a disaster-chocolate brown/velvety stuff that showed every piece of lint. I thought the fabrics in the bedrooms were great choices-very pretty. I like reading your blog because it's local!
What a beautiful tone! Your entire room is so lovely. Nice choice!

ReplyDeleteJust beautiful! Love those minor changes/major outcomes :)
ReplyDeleteI love this Vanessa! Such a simple and affordable change but with high impact!! Just the way I like it :)
